I have always been fascinated by systems, by how the different parts interact. Starting my career, I quickly got frustrated that in many organizations the maintenance part of the system is disconnected from the rest of the organization. It is often seen as a (costly) nuisance.

Leadership teams see decision-making in this field as a specialization, that 'we can hire someone from outside for'. It's not something that 'we do within the organization'.

To turn this situation around and start achieving results, we need to bring theory and practice together in a sustainable way.

This means that we should put the right people in the right room at the right moment and use the right tools for the job.

Tools to fix things that are broken. But more importantly, tools to prevent problems from reoccuring and to help teams and organizations achieve growth.

To me, improvement is all about intention. About knowing what's important at a certain period in time, and spending our precious time and energy on the important things. And taking care of oneself and each other along the way. Only by empowering individuals and teams, removing barriers and celebrating results, we can take performance to the next level.
