I hate spending time on irrelevant business problems.

In the realm of reliability engineering, it should always be clear how the problem we are seeking to solve contributes to achieving the business objectives.

How do we contribute to finding the optimal balance between cost, risk and performance for the company? How does changing one of these factors influence the other?

We should take a systems-approach towards solving asset failure problems. This starts by understanding the business context, understanding the risks and opportunities our reliability problem helps address and how to express this in terms of value for our organizations.
